How island hopping in Croatia works
Catamarans run by TP Line, Krilo Kapetan Luka and Krilo Shipping Company sail between the islands. They carry foot passengers only, and each hop is a separate ticket. Most connections run in the season, which lasts until the end of October. Outside the season, TP Line keeps the main lines running, while many island-to-island links take a break.
Island hopping with your car is more limited: the Jadrolinija car ferries mostly shuttle between the mainland and an island, so you often have to go back via the coast. The lines are listed in the guide Car ferries in Croatia.
From Split via Hvar and Korčula to Dubrovnik
The most popular chain follows the coast south. From Split you reach Hvar in around an hour. From there it is 70 to 85 minutes to Korčula, then around two hours on to Dubrovnik. TP Line runs all three hops in winter too, Krilo Kapetan Luka in season.
From Korčula, two side trips are worth it. TP Line sails daily to Lastovo, reaching Ubli in 80 minutes; more on the TP Line page. Pomena on Mljet is 35 minutes away in season. Outside the season you reach Mljet from Dubrovnik: TP Line sails to Sobra all year, see Dubrovnik - Mljet. TP Line also sails from Dubrovnik to Šipan in 45 minutes.
Linking Brač, Šolta and Hvar
Off Split, Brač, Šolta and Hvar lie close together. From Milna on Brač, Krilo Shipping Company sails once a day to Rogač on Šolta in 25 minutes, in winter too. Milna is 25 to 60 minutes from Split depending on the operator, see Split - Brač. From Rogač it is 30 minutes back to Split, see Split - Šolta.
In season, two lines link Brač directly with Hvar: Milna - Hvar in 30 to 40 minutes and Bol - Jelsa in 25 minutes. Outside the season you make this switch via Split. All lines from the mainland are listed on the page Ferries from Split.
In the north: Kvarner and Zadar
On Fridays and Sundays, Krilo Kapetan Luka sails from Pula across the Kvarner islands to Zadar, stopping at Mali Lošinj and Silba, see Pula - Mali Lošinj - Zadar. From Zadar, TP Line sails daily to Silba, Olib and Premuda, calling at the islands one after another on the same loop. To Dugi Otok, the boat leaves Zadar three times a day on weekdays.
Tickets and planning
Plan each hop around the departure time, not just the journey time: many island-to-island links only run once or twice a day. The timetable shows which hops fit together on your date. Book the routes with only one departure first. The operators recommend being at the quay at least 15 minutes before departure. Luggage rules vary by operator. The prices page explains how fares are made up.

Questions on island hopping in Croatia
Which islands in Croatia can I link directly by ferry? +
In Dalmatia, catamarans link Brač, Šolta, Hvar, Korčula, Mljet, Lastovo and Šipan with each other or via Split and Dubrovnik. The longest chain is Split - Hvar - Korčula - Dubrovnik. In the north, a catamaran links Pula with Zadar via Mali Lošinj; see Pula - Mali Lošinj - Zadar.
Can I go island hopping in Croatia in winter? +
Yes, but with fewer connections. TP Line runs the Split - Hvar - Korčula - Dubrovnik chain in winter too, as well as Korčula - Lastovo and the lines from Dubrovnik to Mljet and Šipan. Milna - Hvar, Bol - Jelsa and the hops to Pomena only run in season. The timetable shows which departures run on your date.

How much does island hopping in Croatia cost? +
Each hop is a separate ticket. The price depends on the route, the operator, the date and the number of passengers. The prices page explains how it is made up.
