The line to Croatia
For travellers heading to Croatia, the key route is the seasonal Ancona - Split line, which SNAV runs in summer as an overnight crossing of the Adriatic. The crossing takes around eleven hours, usually leaving in the evening and arriving in Split the next morning. Outside the summer season, Jadrolinija takes over the route with its own departures.
Check-in and tickets
On the Italy - Croatia line, SNAV requires you to check in at least three hours before the scheduled departure. Online check-in before you travel is available and saves time at the terminal. To board you need a valid ID card or passport; SNAV has no longer accepted paper ID cards as a travel document since 3 August 2026, so bring a passport or a card-format ID.
With SNAV, hand luggage up to 50 × 35 × 20 centimetres and 9 kilograms travels free of charge, while larger luggage needs its own ticket. Pets can travel with a veterinary health certificate, in a carrier or, depending on the ship and available space, in the cabin, with a maximum of two animals per cabin.
